Series 1 2+2
Can anyone help with a picture of how the boot stay fastens to the inside of the boot
Have the top part fitted to boot lid itself but the stay itself seems very tight and under tension when I try and press the bottom bracket back to the bulkhead is this correct?
Any dimensions as to position of bracket or a picture would be a great help please
I know it’s held in place by self tappers I just don’t want to put it under too much stress
Thanks
Phil

#3 Re: Boot lid stay
That’s brilliant thanks
Does the stay seem tight or have any bend in it
I will need to remove seam sealer applied at paint to find holes
Thanks

#5 Re: Boot lid stay
Phil, when I came to refitting my hatch stay, it didn't sit comfortably because Robey's had replaced the sections below the opening when they rebuilt the shell (it was all rotten down there). So IIRC the lower hole wasn't there, but more importantly the bracket wouldn't sit comfortably against the bodywork without straining the stay mechanism, because the contour of the panel was slightly different. So I fitted the stay to the hatch, then measured carefully where the lower bracket wanted to sit, and made up a wedge shaped shim from hardwood to support it. That now sits underneath the trim. Dunno if that's any help?

Thanks for this
Suspect I have the same issue here as the bracket just doesn’t sit flat on the internal panel as you say
Thanks for the suggestion may be the solution
