Can anyone point me to a good first engine start procedure?
The engine is on a stand with the gearbox attached, Cooling system assembled, some exhaust mufflers attached.
After some clutch problems I think I am rady to start the engine...

So ....check you put oil in it! Fresh battery fully charged.... Remove all the plugs and one of the low tension wires to the coil. Ideally disconnect the fuel pump. Now crank until you see oil pressure (easier if you have a mechanical gauge). It will take a minute or more to get oil around and pressure. Now put the plugs in and reconnect the leads to the coil and the fuel pump. Switch ign On and listen for the pump....quick check for fuel leaks. Try and start....if she runs let the engine idle for a bit....no revving up...that's what I did for the MG years back anyway....good luck....keep us posted.

So, here it is:
No major leaks (some water). I forgot to pull the choke out in the beginning.
It idles a little high at 1500rpm, but I did not bother too much during initial run.
the Air/Fuel is very high (or low) at about 7, so it's way too rich I presume or my lambda sensor is faulty.
Also, the charging is a bit low - Voltage is only 12.4V on the battery - I need to see the regulator and

Sounds good! Maybe worth leaving the choke off initially so it doesn't start too instantly before the oil has got round a bit.

I took the spark plugs out and cranked the engine before start :-)
