#1 Vacuum non return valve failure

Post by Tom W » Thu Jul 16, 2020 9:23 pm

Has anyone else experienced issues with the vacuum non return valve that sits on the reservac tank? Mine seem to last a couple of years max before some movement develops between the upper and lower halves, and it starts leaking air into the inlet. I must be on my 3rd by now. They’re all marked Trico, so not dodgy pattern parts. I’m tempted to see if I can re-seal one, maybe with some gasket compound. Tapping at the little tangs that hold the halves together to tighten the joint doesn’t seem to be a long term fix.

Clean it well and then coat the whole thing with 2 part epoxy. That should seal it permanently till the diaphragm fails.

That’s a good idea, thanks.
