Series 3 wire suppliers
#1 Series 3 wire suppliers
Hello all, I’m looking to modify some of my looms.
I’m finding it really difficult to find a wire supplier. I want to stay with normal wire codes but am having difficulty getting wire with the correct colour traces. Br, B, G, R, are easy but white with a purple trace....mmm?
Anyone recommend a supplier for automotive cables, reels of 10/20/25m in various gauges would be fine.
Thanks in advance
Peter

I get all my cables/looms/terminals from Autosparks. They had all the colour combinations I needed.

All of the companies recommended so far are excellent. However, it seems that some wire colours just aren't available. Frustratingly, you can find that the colour and trace colour you need is available in some gauge sizes but not in others. Part of life's rich tapestry, I'm afraid.

Hi,
Some will be horrified by this, but I hang on to old wiring looms and strip them for the wires. Some cables do get damaged, but others are fine. I have cables left over from several Triumph cars, which I re-loomed or in one case scrapped, and most of the original looms from my own Series 3. So far I have always had enough of the correct colour/ gauge to repair or replace the bits of loom I haven’t been able to source. If colour is that important to you, maybe you could get some from a breakers yard? Most UK cars use the Lucas code for wires so there’s a fair chance that you can find one.
Regards,
Simon.

Simon
Don’t feel guilty, I do exactly the same and they’re also Triumph looms to boot. I thought I was alone in having this guilty secret but now I can hold my head up.
In addition the looms often have their relays still attached. As a result I now have a drawerful of spares.
Average price £20 per loom - what’s not to like?
Cheers

Oh...shiny bits!!!
We could start a club...then a forum... then we could be berated by all,
especially if we used the wrong wire for the year of production of the item....bliss oh joy...let's do it.
