Hi,
I have in front of me 3 rev counters that I have accumulated over the last 23 years and would appreciate it if I could find out which would be the best with the 123 distributor that I am now fitting.
RV7414/06. This is the correct one for my car but was removed as the generator failed. I do have an electronic conversion bought from D Rawle many years ago to allow it to be wired to the coil.
RVI 4610/01. Currently fitted to the car and appears to be wired to the coil. A mod I must have done many years ago. Always seemed to read high with the Lumenition system that I used to have on the car.
Which of these would I get accurate readings from with the 123 distributor?
I also have a third rev counter but it has no Smiths number on it. It has a chrome bezel and the red section is from 6000 to 6500 rpm. Three wires, 2 white and one green. Any ideas what this was originally fitted to?
Thanks
Steve

Steve I don’t have the definitive answer however I can tell you that my tachometer was the kind that has the looped white wire at the back of it, It reads a pulse, anyhow that tachometer had to be sent away to speedy cables for work after fitting a 123 dizzy, it did not work once that was fitted, but worked perfectly before.
Cost about £170 did a great job, but waited 2 months to get it back ... hope that narrows it down a little

The chrome bezel instrument is likely to be from an XJ12 series 1

hi, I had my S1 (66 roadster) rev counter converted by speedograph Nottingham for my 123 distributer.
