#1 Hardtop Plexiglass removal

Post by pkl03 » Sun Mar 21, 2021 10:55 am

I’m about to embark on the restoration of my S3 hardtop and was looking for information as to how to remove the plexiglass screen, more specifically the chrome moulding that sits in the window seal. I don’t want to launch into just pulling it out for fear of bending/damaging these as they are nearly impossible to replace.

I know that I could take it to a windscreen replacement company, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they know what they are doing - looking to see if anyone has any first hand experience.
Thanks
Peter

Probably best to run a Stanley knife around the outside edge and then remove it all as one piece then disassemble on the floor. New rubber seals are available and you would not really want to re-use the old hardened seal anyway.
