#1 Door Removal Question

Post by Pianoman » Thu Apr 01, 2021 11:01 am

Hi, I know it's a silly question. I need to remove my doors but am wondering which bolts is easier to remove, the bolts that attach the hinge to the shell or the bolts (and screws) on the inside of the door?
As is do I remove the door with thew hinge attached to the door or can I take the door off and leave the hinge attached to the body?
thanks

Donal, if it helps I’ve removed my doors by taking off the door trim and undoing the screws door to hinge.
What some people recommend is to drill a couple of 1/8 inch holes or 3mm in the hinge and door to have reference points for refitting, assuming you’re happy with the fit of the doors.
They are heavy with the glass in so removing that first is advisable.

Hope that helps

Thanks Geoff, I have stripped them down to just a shell at the moment as I thought that would be easier to do when the doors were bolted in place

Hi Donal,

Remove the bolts from the shell, it is much easier to re-fit that way.
