#1 Series 2 Shocks Correct Colour Code

Post by Retroman » Thu Apr 28, 2022 11:47 pm

Hi

There is much info relating to RAF blue / grey being used for series 1 car shocks but what about series 2?

Did the colour remain the same for both front and rear shocks?

Any ideas?
Does anyone ouf there know the closest RAL code?

Have a look at the Series 2 factory fit section.

This looks like the front shocks were grey.

You could get hold of a copy of the JCNA Concourse guide for the S2.

Rather unhelpfully, the otherwise ultra-picky JCNA judges declare the suspension and inner wheel arches a bit of a no-go area!

As far as I know the shocks are semi-gloss black, but I stand to be corrected. I've got a number of in-period books but none of them give a really clear picture (although what I am able to make out looks black).

Girling used the same blue/grey colour BS381C-633 RAF Blue-Grey for their shocks as it was their corporate standard. They changed to metallic blue from the early 1970's.
