67fhc red wire on driver side rear??
#1 67fhc red wire on driver side rear??
Folks, basket case, on the right rear I am ready to install harness, in the harness that THIS plugs into, there is a DOUBLE red, one side to fuse box, the other side goes back into main harness, my question is on
the rear harness I have only one red wire that appears to plug into the double, it exits the rear harness
about 1/2 way to rear lights and has a heavy rubber coating, I know it is not for fuel pump or rear lights,
the rear lights are covered in a red material over the rubber wire, I ""assume"" it is not for the
roof light which is purple and is fed by the left rear harness, I did not dissemble this car, could there
be another light that gets this red power feed. So the real question is what does this single covered
red with material wire go to???
p.s. this "WAS"a right hand drive car converted to left drive before my time, makes my struggle even more fun. and yes I have ALL the different wire diagrams and been on this wire project for 10 hours so far.

Thanks for try, but this wire has CONSTANT power, remember 1 side of the double red connector lead to fuse box, so whatever this covered red goes to must a some sot of switch, the number plate (at least on my car it appear to be fed from the left side harness, red wire, but this could be wrong and that is why I am asking) and the reverse is fed by Green then to Green/brown.
ahh working on a butchered car is frustrating , I am sure many members have had the same issues, the previous clown even changes wire colors in the front, used all yellow stuff to repair some sort of damage,
I have replaced all the incorrect colors with pieces an old harness from a lotus, lucky they used the same colors for the same units in front.

Have you established which fuse or elsewhere this constant power comes from? That will help explain what it might be about.

Interior light within centre armrest (lid) I’ve seen a live feed for this purpose before, non factory obviously.

It has to be an application that gets live and a switched ground available without the ignition having to be switched on.

Well, after about 5 hours on the bench with a battery and all things hooked up, I have found out that
the COVERED double connector(RED) and the uncovered double connector(red) on the rear right harness, must be linked together
with a wire (both male ends to do this) and now this does solve my problem with the red cable on the
right side, as suggested by one member it has to be for the plates, with couple of the above wires
and I think the removal of an unknown red at the rear left light which was patch into the plate lights this
does solve the question. I know it took a very long time to bench test the hole harness system but
I do not regret it, I now know every darn wire in a jag and what it is there for, hopefully I will not
have any more stupid questions on wiring, I am now ready to transfer all this stuff to the car,
Thanks for your input it did help. Mike.
