I have mine out of my 1970 Series 2 Roadster, I will measure it for you later this morning, cheers John.

I've had the tape on the lower column and total length is 34.25 inches or 86.5cm. Mine is a collapsible unit which consists of a tube with an inner rod which is a sliding fit. These two pieces are held together with small nylon or plastic "rivets", which on impact will snap and enable the column to reduce in length and reduce injury to the driver. I am uncertain if your 2 plus 2 shares its unit with a Series 2 roadster. The only 2 plus 2 that I have is a V12 and I expect it would be a totally different unit as it has PAS. cheers John.

Many thanks John, just the info I needed. My column which is for power steering is 32 inches (81cm) and the same construction. Series 2 roadster, FHC and 2+2 use the same column, C29851 for manual steering and C30853 for power steering. Not sure what a Ser 3 uses, I know the power steering rack is different.
Now I just have to find the correct one.
Merry Xmas to everyone.

Hi Tony,
if you cannot locate one how about an engineering solution? Extend the one that you have already. If you are not concerned about the safety aspect of the collapsing lower column drill out the plastic plugs, extend the assembly to fit your car and then weld it solid. You will have some compression as the upper column has a degree of collapse in it.

Thanks again John, but not sure your idea would work. I believe the inner shaft is at its maximum extension as its belled at the end according to a drawing I saw, probably on Jaglovers site.
A similar solution which would retain the collapsable section would be to extend the lower tube as it is only a tube. Hopefully the correct part will turn up, though it might involve a mortgage to acquire.

On my 69 S2 FHC with manual steering the total length is 87.2 cm

Not sure if this used one from SC Parts would fit?
