Will Lucas 39415 Ignition switch fit S2?

Its hard to determine precisely which Lucas switch was fitted originally to my 5 June 1969 build S2 with a Britax lock assembly but wondering if anyone has had success using a 39415 - it is listed as one of the switches used in S2 production but keen to hear some practical experience

That looks like what I had to use to replace an old switch on my S2. However a bit of searching under the Lucas code can find them on fleabay or other suppliers for eg MG parts at much lower price. I assume your steering lock works well and all you want to do is add a new switch?

Yes, I have and it worked fine.

I burnt the original one out 7 years ago by running an ecu through it. Too many amps for the switch.

Discovered the problem when the barrier raised into the Channel Tunnel and the car wouldn't start with 100 cars behind me, returning from Europe.

Wasn't sure the car would restart when we got to the other side. That was fun.

This was followed by 50 miles of M20 holding the wires in the switch with no hard shoulder and a 40 ton lorry behind me all the way.

Burnt my finger.

Fitted a new relay controlled power circuit for the ECU quickly afterwards. Been fine ever since.

Yes steering lock is fine, the switch is not allowing 12v feed to coil when starter motor operated so need new switch - I understand switch is held in place with a single screw
