#1 center console attachment question, 67 fhc

Folk,s I have just recovered the center console and the TOP part where shifter boot is, does this
part (top)just sit on top of whole unit or is it glued on , mine is very thin wood (covered), and
not sure of the attachment process on this basket case 1976 fhc

Perhaps you can post a photo, as I am not sure what you are referring to. TO my knowledge there is not wood in the centre console area ?

IIRC it goes in below the metal top, held in by metal tabs as indicated by Steve. There is a thin leather covered wooden panel over the steel top. The attached pic is a 3.8, I think the 4.2 is slightly different. Missing on mine is the upholstered piping around the edge of the shift cover, just not enough space due to the thickness of the new leather.
