#1 Strange high engine idle speed

Post by Gfhug » Tue Apr 09, 2024 3:56 pm

After a bit of a clean around the engine idle speed increased to 1200 rpm from the usual 700 (4.2 engine).
Throttle and choke seemed to be working correctly, but then found the centre choke cam which lifts to open the butterfly to increase tickover was sitting off centre. So it was being slightly lifted and the engine running faster.
Superficially all looked ok but at least the forward and centre cams can be easily seen, unlike the rear one.
Liberal application of ACF-50 and all working fine.
One of those funnies that happens and worth a check over of each one if you’ve got an unusual change in idle revs.
