Hello
I am dismantling my Series 1 3.8 heater box so I can get it powder coated however I cannot see how to get the flap out. From what I can see, the bracket Is welded to the end of the rod, and the flap is welded to the rod. Can someone explain to me how I remove it? I would post a picture if I knew how to do it...
Thanks
Myles

Myles : I am afraid that there is no easy solution to this that I know of, because if you cut the ? brazed rather than welded bracket off, you will have to braze it back on at the end of the job, and this will of course destroy the powder coating . In many ways I think you are better just painting the box internally and externally , which can be done with the flap left in situ . In any event, powder coating the individual bits, which seems to be what you propose, is likely to leave you with reassembly problems, because the flanged cover will not fit easily back on again because of the powder coat over which it has to fit

After reading the above I asked my local blasting specialist if it would be possible to strip and recoat my heater box with the flap in place. They had no problem.

I presume it’s all brazed on the S1?
The S2 dismantles.
Weird...
But I spray painted mine as already discussed, powder coating is too thick for reassembly.
Cheers
