Al, I replaced my map light with a short led tube/light as the old one was broken, a fairly common problem by the sounds of it. It is much brighter and hence of value when used. Simply held in place by adhesive tape.
As for the cigar lighter, stop smoking! Being serious, is your car negative or positive earth/ground? Maybe you have a negative earth new cigar lighter which may not match your wiring harness so you’ll have to change the end fittings as appropriate. Just a thought.

Hope that helps

Yes.....Unless your going original, LED is the way.
So bright ,uses 1 /100 th the energy, nothing gets hot and you can actually see at night!

Interesting thought that, my son had downloaded a lot of music onto a plug in Mp3 player which he gave me as a gift. I decided to plug into my 3.8 fhc to see if my vintage Blaaupunkt would pick it up, not thinking that the car was pos earth. Smelled hot burning & saw smoke rising from the Mp3 & hastily pulled it out. It was too hot to hold & promptly dropped it onto the floor. Fortunately no damage done to the E, but the Mp3 was cooked!
