#1 What are these carpets for ?

Post by Durango2k » Mon Aug 08, 2016 8:37 pm

Hi guys,

I have these two carpets in my 2+2 set.

What are they for ? I thought "under- dash", but I could not find any orientation nor place for them.

Where should I put them ?

Ok. Hm.

I bought them a few years ago from Aldridge- I'll ask them.

Hi Carsten.....looks like parts 601 on the Aldridge site....look at the small picture by the list of parts http://www.aldridge.co.uk/services/schematic.cfm?id=3 cant seem to get the link to work but if you look at the Aldridge Site under S12+2 4.2 in the trim section ...other ......it shows exactly what you have as under dash panels should be 3 parts http://www.aldridge.co.uk/PartsImages/J ... lus2ud.jpg

Hi Carsten,

They are the under dash hardura panels as Steve mentions and you should have some similar shaped jute pieces. Although it's a different model here's some pictures of mine (Interior trimming).

I did find that these panels needed to be fitted before the carpets which butt up against them. Also, if your car has one (I'm assuming it would), you'll need to fit the vinyl covered wiring loom conduit panel beforehand.

Carsten,

I recognise the shape of the left one as being the piece that goes from the brake pedal arm and upwards (rearwards) to the steering column, the right one I'm not quite sure about, but it's quite similar in size to the piece on the passenger side that goes from the firewall and upwards (rearwards) to the parcel shelf, mine had a small cutout to clear the adjustable nozzle of the air vent control blades and the control wire. Mine were original to my car, 50 years old, so if you need I can take some pics from my car and send to you.

Hi guys,

Now isn't that wonderful - I got in contact to Simon Aldridge himself, and he offered to send me a fitting set for free- even paying freight !

I cannot praise them high enough- the parts fitted nicely, always an open ear when I had to ask, and I got a free replacement years after buying.

Wonderful company. Highly recommended.
