What's available to give more bite
For example I recently put mintex pads in my mk1 RS2000 and they transformed them
My Etype brakes have a firm pedal but feels wooden
Is there a performance pad available?

The choise of the pads depend on where you drive.
On a track, you need some "performance" pads which will well work with hard heat and hard brake.
That's why you need to warm brakes before a race.
If you put these pads on the normal road, the brake is absolutly bad.
On the normal road you need soft pads instead of performance.
They must braked without having to warm, at the first corner after leaving the garage.
If the pads are like wood, they are too hard, change them for soft and see what happened.

Well, good question...
In my case, I have Coopercraft in front with their standard pads and a leak to the IRS so I change pads for anything, often is SNG, never mind for me. My E slow down enought if I get some distance !
If you have the Dunlop breaks, just buy the standard and try. I think there is more choise for performance than for standard.
I'm also interested if somebody have a dealer with choise.

You also have the option of EBC Greenstuff.....fast road.....SNG also sell them and EBC kevlar

Kevlar pads don't leave any dust on the wheels. Softish feel, lots of braking power, never tested them hard so I don't know if they fade when very hot, say half way down Stelvio. And after 50,000 miles of not very much use the pads still have plenty of friction material left.

I used Greenstuff pads when I had standard Dunlop brake calipers on my 3.8 and they transformed the braking, nice smooth bite and no heart stopping moments when you think the brakes aren't working.
I used them once in anger when someone braked hard in front of me after a rabbit ran out and they did the job really well.
I have just fitted front greenstuff pads to my sons classic mini after restoring it.
I just checked the EBC website and a set for the 3.8 costs £36.38 so not a bank breaker.

You can do a search for your car and it brings up the correct page, do the same if you have uprated calipers.
You don't get as much dust off them as you do with the standard pads.

If the pedal really does feel heavy and wooden it might pay to ensure that your booster is working. I'm not saying it isn't but that's what the brakes feel like with the vacuum disconnected.vipergts wrote:
