#1 New Manufactured Series One Brake Slave Cylinder

Post by andrewh » Sun Dec 25, 2016 1:58 pm

I was Googling away on the matter of fitting Brake Pipes to a series One 4.2 and came across a post on another forum of an owner/restorer in the US wasting 8 hours trying to get the rear brakes to bleed on a 4.2. It transpired that he discovered eventually ( this is where the 8 hours went) that the newly manufactured slave cylinder on the Servo had a plastic insert in one of the valves that has been incorrectly manufactured and restricted flow to the rear brakes! The post was 2012 and so I wondered whether anyone else has experienced this problem. I don't want to start dismantling a brand new slave cylinder to investigate, nor do I want to have to strip the thing down when it has been full of brake fluid. I do recall E type UK having trouble bleeding brakes with new servo/slave cylinders when Harry owned it . Anyway, would be interested in any feedback. thanks
