#1 Clutch slave/clutch pin new. How to install

I am trying to post a pic above of the new and old clutch pin. I don't see how I can put this pin in, retain with spring/washer/pin and have anyplace to hook the spring on?

The vendor sent me this setup.

The old pin also has no place for the spring but that's because I believe the bottom of the pin is sheared off, visible evidence of a fracture when viewed small end on.

Hi Bill....both pins go in from underneath through the clutch fork and pushrod eye.......one uses the clip to secure the other the pin the spring and washer.....the long spring then just fits under the head on both......might be a bit tighter on the new one as the spring pulls the head in....Steve....ps in the Jag service manual you can see the long spring fitted under the head of the pin.....ps there looks nothing wrong with your old pin, nothing is broken off....just try sliping the spring clip into its groove and you will see its ok

You will also only use the split pin, the spring clip cannot be used without a groove in the fulcrum pin.

I think everyone has missed the obvious, those pins are not for a spring type set up.

The spring type spring has a different head with a shoulder to hold the spring.

The new pin is for the spring return clutch slave. The lower pin in the photo is for the hydrostatic self adjusting slave.

The pin goes through the boss, spring attached then spring washer, plain washer and split pin. alternatively you can hook the spring between the plain washer and split pin.

... and if you are clever, put the pin in from top, so it won't fall out.

I might be completely wrong but shouldn't a 66 car have this type of pin? ( below) Does anyone know when they changed the design of the pin.

I have the shorter of the two slave cyllinders. The short ones are *not* the hydrostatic. do I have that correct?
