#1 FHC boot mat retainers and beading

Post by peters3103 » Sun Dec 10, 2017 3:26 am

Hi guys,
As previously mentioned I have bought a set of retainers (luggage rails) for my 3.8 FHC but am missing the longest one (BD332/13 - 39” long)
and I’m wondering how close the repro ones are that are available from the usuals at around the £60 mark. Are they all made by the same supplier or if not are any more likely to be a closer match to the originals than others? I also need a length of the rubber beading to replace it all. If anyone has had experience here recently, advice would be appreciated.

Cheers
Pete

Holden's Vintage and Classic in UK will do the rubber . From recollection, they also do lengths of the metal strip, but to make the "arrowheads" and/or the square ends you have to do some fettling yourself. I know that you tried the website in the past but did not find anything. I will ring them up tomorrow and see if I can find anything out for you ( this may take a day or two as their area is nearly cut off by snow at present )

Hi Christopher,
Thanks for your suggestion. I have looked at the strips available from Woolies but the profile is quite different. I might see if SNGB can send me a close-up photo of there’s to see if it’s similar. The original (hopefully) ones I bought are pictured below. As can be seen (photo 1) they are ribbed along both sides. Last photo shows them laid out. A new 2 piece Hardura mat to be made and extension board to have pop-ups removed and be re-trimmed.

Regards
Pete
