#1 Dash Cover Replacement

Hi,
'67 FHC
Apologies but I don't have access to photobox and am looking for any guidance and easily readable images for replacing the pad. Could not find a You Tube link for guidance on fitting the new pad- only the strip down.

I have the moulded replacement with a thin foam backing for the cover.

Also, there is a slot in the middle at the forward edge. Is this usually filled in. Pretty sure it does not connect to anything on the firewall.

Any help with advice appreciated.

Many Thanks
Eddie Cross

Hi Eddie.....the slot looks like the dash top is for an OTS....the slot to go around the windscreen center rod.....Steve

Thanks Steve. I'll probably blank it off then.

Eddie - there is no need to blank off the slot in the metal if that is what you mean - when the cover is put it place it covers it up.
With an OTS you would need to cut the cover of course.

Ok thanks Joe. I may tack a bit under it to give it a tad more rigidity as quite a large slot.

I have the heat resistant glue and some clamps on order.....Still could do with chatting to someone who has done this before though!

Cheers
Eddie

Incidentally, which heat resistant glue have you chosen? I ask as I need to re-do my dash on my GT6 after the PO used a normal adhesive...

I bought a can of Trimfix spray-on heat resistant glue on e-bay. Will let you know Mark.....

I have just stripped off the old cover (it is a replacement not original) and it is just glued at the front where it folds underneath the metal dash and wrapped and clipped at the back. I hope the glue is strong enough to resist the pulling forces.

I am guessing that I should leave it for a day or two to set before I wrap the back part.

Eddie
