I have a series 1.5 engine and would like to run the eletronic tach drive to a series 1 tach gauge that includes the time clock as in a series 1 car.
Is it possible to attach the electronic sender to the end of the cam shaft/vlave cover on a series 1.5 engine as in a series 1 engine to run the tach?
Thank you
Alan

This is difficult to answer because the terminology you have used is rather hard to understand . The S1 tacho generator and its associated instrument is an AC device which is quite separate from the cars electrics . If by "electronic tach drive " you mean the AC generator attached to the back of the inlet camshaft then the answer is yes. However, the later electronic tachos are operated from , and an integral part of , the ignition circuit , with the "counting " done by an internal circuit in the tacho energised by a sensor which has the white wire to the ignition wrapped around it, and the results of that counting being displayed by a moving coil driving the needle which is powered by a green wire carrying 12 volts. This type of instrument cannot be powered from the AC generator
