#1 Prop shaft universal joints

Post by Robbiee » Mon Apr 02, 2018 9:23 pm

Hi all
Any recommendations for which UJs to fit to my propshaft?
My chassis number is 850456 which SNG B website tells me is no longer available

My questions are 1. do I use the “early” ujs OR later ones?
2. Are they interchangeable ?
3. Does it matter which I choose?

Thanks
Robbie

You may be offered “sealed for life” UJs. Whilst these are true to their descrption it is only because their life will be very short These may be fitted with a grub screw in the central spider. Remove it and throw it away and fit a grease nipple. If there is no grub screw, find an alternative that has a grease nipple. Then remember to grease the UJs once every year.

Hi Robbie..sorry dont know the answer but if you can get a number from your existing ones or measure them then you could go directly to a prop/bearing company.....you can also try Norman Morors....very good at haveing old stock Jag parts.......Steve
