I thought I might throw in a pic of mine: Almost done. MWS wheels will be there by tomorrow, tyres to be ordered when more money is available. Still need a windshield and a paint job on the front end. Then a final go- over aka spannering up as Mark Evans said, then she‘s ready for ... a car wash. I should open a shop for fine grey dust. It‘s been about 11 Years...

At the end of the day, the price of any E-TYpe, is determined by one very important and influential individual, He is , of course, the person standing in front of you with cash in his hands that wants your car. Your degree of eagerness, or lack there of, sometimes plays a small role. Good luck !

I have just seen that at Hagerty Insurance, the value they give for a S1 2+2 is around half of an S1, in similar condition.
Is the value of a 2+2 really so much lower than the regular fhc? Is it really so much less “desired”?
Thanks for your views

For value then basically yes.......however for some they will search for a 2+2 as it suites them better...more head/leg room....extra seats in the rear for kids........and when your sitting in the drivers seat the view out is just the same...whats not to like and half the price Steve

The greatest thing ever, is a 2+2. It has the same engine as a FHC or a OTS. The engine makes the same power as a FHC or a OTS. The bonnet is identical to a FHC or a OTS. As is the gearbox and axle. And the dash board, and the view out of the windscreen. BUT, real people can fit in the car and drive it. Real people with legs. And luggage. And all of this for half what you need to pay for a cramped FHC or OTS. What is not to like?
Oh! And one final thing. The insurance premium is a fraction of that for a FHC, even smaller fraction of that for a OTS.

Yes, I just tested the „real people“ thing with a 15 yr old who happens to be 1.96 mtrs in size, and having a partially stiffened spline. He fits, and even said its comfy in the S1 seats. He missed headrests, and the book shelves make it a bit tight. But then, fit such a Longwood in the FHC. Or in an OTS where the wind would blow his face of, above the windshield.
Fact: people are getting taller and taller with each generation. So, a 2+2 may be a very solid and wise choice... if no one is left to fit the cramped nonsense versions of the car, literally everyone would want a 2+2 ...
