#1 Zinc Plated

Post by Mich7920 » Wed Jun 20, 2018 12:46 pm

I have a question about the color of the zinc plated.
I just collect from a professional my zinc plated parts and I'm not very pleased.
I ask him to do them in zinc white but on all the wishbones, fulcrum shaft etc... there is some yellow shadows.
It's not "gold" as the screws of the new cars but it's not really white or sylver.
Is it a problem for the right conformity of the car ?

Hi Mitch......the final colour depends on the passivant (protective) process they use following zinc plating...it can be anything from gold, yellow, purple or clear to give a silver finish. ......it sounds like they havent used clear....either way you wont be happy.....did you see a sample or show a sample to the plater....personaly i havent heard of white......ask what passivant they used...and if they can re do it..
