Lead Shot bag in OTS roof & Trimmers

Hi

Does anyone know if the lead-shot bag was sewn into the roof of all 3.8 OTS cars or was it for only part of the production run. Am shortly going to be getting the roof rails refurbished and a new hood fitted and I want to ensure it is correct to period (mine is a late 3.8 from June 1964).

Also, does anyone have a view/preference on trimmers (BAS, Suffolk & Turley, GB Classics etc). In addition to the hood, I also want to get my seats and centre console restored to factory spec.

To get your seats to Factory you will need to specify Connolly leather. Try Mick Turley.

The lead shot bag was in all S1 OTS cars. This is an original lead shot bag from the convertible top. It is approximately 5/8" in diameter. It's wrapped in a sisal cord with about two feet extra on each end, presumably for pulling it through the pocket in the top. It does not have its own part number and is part of Hood Cloth Assembly #BD20582.

David, you say the lead shot was in S1 OTS, do you know why it wasn't used for the S2 or S3?

The S2 did have a lead shot bag, the S3 did not. They redesigned the hood sticks - the S1 has three bows, the S2 had two and the lead shot bag was smaller and placed under the centre strap between the hood bows The S2/3 also had Everflex vinyl hoods rather than Mohair.
