#1 Triplex headlamp covers.

Post by rswaffie » Tue Nov 13, 2018 8:58 pm

Hi,
I have been cleaning up the glass headlamp covers in readiness for fitting to the bonnet. I’ve not really looked at them since I took them off two years ago. They both have the Triplex AS2 Toughened logos on them as below. They also both have two small ‘dimples’ in the glass, identically placed in both. They look like they may have been a result of the manufacturing process, anyone know what the may be?

Hi

Likely to be pin marks from the mechanism that gripped and held them during the toughening process....not seen on modern glass so much if at all as the toughening process can be done differently

Thanks Jonathan, the discolouration in the dimples and the fact that they are on both sides would be explained by the ‘gripping’ element.
