#1 Bonnet stop
Hi All,
my bonnet need to be adjusted so the over riders on the front bumper dont hit the floor when the bonnet is fully open. Does anyone know a fix for this?

Bernie, I would start by checking the car's ride height isn't too low. If you have the standard balance links fitted there really shouldn't be a problem. Has the bonnet been modified or rebuilt after a shunt? Standard bumpers/overriders correctly fitted? Can you post some pics? Bonnet shut/open, view from the side at wheel hub level, close up of balance links when open etc.

Are you parked on the level? My overriders clear the ground, UNLESS I'm parked on a slope, then they can touch. I keep a couple of beer mats with me for such eventualities!

Thanks for the responses. The car is parked on the level and over riders are fitted correctly. It would seem I need to put something in the gap to keep the bonnet from opening fully (see photos) or adjust something?

There is a little bit of adjustment in the balance link position with the captive nuts. You could try moving them about and see what effect this has.
The bumpers should be fitted with wedge shaped washers; it's also possible yours sag a little although it's hard to tell from the pictures.
Otherwise, as above, I suspect your ride height is too low.
Andrew.

Yes : if you look in the front suspension section of the workshop manual ( knowledge base on this board ) it tells you a. how to measure and b. how to alter the ride height by re-setting the torsion bars in their mountings . It is, however, not a five minute job

Will have a look at that thanks for the pointers not sure what I would do without this website it seems work never stops on the car. About to put a new cylinder head on it which is correct for the year but I will get a professional to do that!

I'd go with ride height. From your picture, the angle of the bonnet doesn't look that steep for the overriders to be touching. Also, yours touch right at the base - my bonnet goes much higher so it's more towards the face where they touch if I'm not on a level.
