#1 S 1 3.8 FHC are pistons 8:1 or 9:1

I hope someone can help here. I am rebuilding a Series 1 3.8 FHC. The pistons are OK but the rings need replacing, the engine was originally 8:1(from engine #) but I suspect that the pistons were changed to 9:1 when the engine was last rebuilt.
How do I tell, as I need to order the correct rings?
I have attached a couple of photos and the pistons have AE 20615 cast on the inside.
