Just checking that series 2 calipers wont fit my series 1.5 car? Series 2 calipers seem to come up on ebay at not too much money, £xx. But If i want better calipers i need to buy 4 pot calipers for £xxx. Is this accurate?

I think you will find that these will not fit because the spacing of the fixing bolts differs.
You really have 3 options;
Keep as is
Buy some purpose made 4 pots from the likes of Coopercraft or Zeus
Follow the thread and modify some Volvo 4 pots, although these ar3 getting hard to come buy.

I suppose a 4th option exists in that you could buy some series 2 uprights but that is even more expensive and probably elusive.

Yup, series 2 calipers at the rear and 4 pots on the front.
Actually I ended up with a near new complete system. Had to replace the servo, the master cylinder and the vacuum valve on the reservoir.
I think only the front to rear pipes are original !

Made my own remote bleeders - simple job.

Managed to get a good pedal

Thanks for confirming, i was talking about the fronts only, shame about the answer, so i will have to consider 4 pots, good job i did not bid on the S2 calipers, i had read that my front calipers then moved to the rear are an upgrade on my current setup

Yes, many people move the front calipers to the rear.
I think it’s an IRS out job ....... others will confirm

If it’s an IRS out job then you may as well check over the entire unit.
Good luck

With this option, series 2 steering arms will have to be used as well.

A long time ago - a fairly normal 'upgrade' was to fit suspension uprights from a 420, they were readily available at the time and that's what I fitted to my Series 1 which allowed me to fit the vented V12 disks too...

Granted that was more than a few years ago when caliper upgrades like Zeus didn't exist - but it *IS* an option :)

Chris,
That's good to know however 420's aren't all that common over here. Series 2 2+2's used to be abundant but that's going back to the mid seventies when I got my first E. Many of them gave their lives providing power steering, thicker torsion bars and of course 3-1/2" O.C. uprights, steering arms and Girling brakes.
It's nice having the option now of Zeus and Coopercraft.
