Title probably says it all. I am talking about the thick plastic / nylon trim that runs round the rear hatch gutter and is screwed to the body inside the car. I am pretty sure no-one sells this and i need to change the colour from a deep burgundy to dark blue.
I am sure other people have painted this trim - can anyone advise what paint to use and what to avoid?
Thanks
CC
FHC - rear hatch gutter trim recolouring

No I need to recolour the strip of plastic (about 2" wide") that runs all the way round the hatch gutter. It is screwed inside the shell but wraps around the sharp edge of the gutter.
As far as I know no-one makes this - i have been looking for many years :o)
But thanks for the link to Aldridge.

Hi Chris
I used a Halfords 'plastic' spray paint that is for car interiors. Good finish and no flaking. The only supplier for these strips of plastic are in the US (I can't recall where at the moment) and they are only supplied in black and red I think.

XKs Unlimited, here in California, show the rear hatch finisher strip in three colors: black, red and green. The part numbers are BD20163, with a single-letter suffix, i.e., "B" for black, to denote color.
I've dealt with these guys for years and they've always come through for me, so they're worth a call if you need this part. Hope this information is useful.

Chris, XKs Unlimited ship worldwide. The colors I mentioned came directly from their hard-copy catalog, my copy of which is several years old. You might give them a call if other colors have become available. I don't know if they're having these made here in the colonies, or if they're coming in from the U.K.
