#1 Routing of the starter cable on a 3.8 - again.

Post by ysmalkie » Sun Oct 18, 2020 9:43 pm

There are posts on the forum that say the cable is routed on top of the the bottom rail of the picture frame and there are photos that say it's routed under the top rail.

I am confused...

I have looked at a number of original cars and I cannot find any photos that prove it one way or the other.

Could anyone definitively say how it's routed?

Photos would be most appreciated.

Bottom rail.

Runs from the battery to the starter switch mounted on the top of the LHD rail, down to the bottom, around the front and then back along the lower rail of the RHD frame to the starter.

Many thanks Andrew.

Do you have any photos of the way it gets to the bottom rail on the LHS? The natural way would be the upper rail....

Sorry Tadek I don't think so. My cars are RHD.

I'll have a look at my picture collection and see if anything pops up.

Might be worth asking on the US forum too if you haven't already.

It's interesting that if you look at this post http://forum.etypeuk.com/viewtopic.php? ... 36#p114203 the pictures show the cable running around the top frame until it gets to just above the starter and then dropping down from there.

This is a RHD 4.2 car.

David : I think that diagram refers only to the loom. The starter cable does not seem to be shown on it
