On the first pump the brakes are not great however if I lift and reapply the braking efficiency is so much more powerful
Any thought?
Braking strange things
#2 Re: Braking strange things
Air in the system possibly....bleed them and see if it improves. If it has suddenly happened then do carry out a thorough examination for a fluid leak - has either brake reservoir level suddenly - as a very small leak may produce a similar symptom..small leaks become big leaks and that's bad

It has always been this way. It does seem to use a bit of fluid, has done for years but I cannot find a leak. I guess there must be but it’s dry everywhere

If your loseing fluid then you have a leak...possibly into the servo or into the vac tank.....i would look in vac tank first....Steve

Yes. Good call.
How would it get into the vac tank?

Possibly via the master cylinder and reaction valve....its not uncommon for this to happen...the service manual has detailed schematic diagrams of the braking system....Steve
