Post by johnj » Mon Feb 17, 2020 10:05 am

I am converting a series 1 1/2 e type and have an issue with the wipers parking on wrong side
I have modified the arms correctly but assume something needs to be dine with the wiper motor
Any ideas or tips please thanks John

You need to swap the red/green wire and the blue/green wire inside the motor.

This picture shows the 2 wires, and I think it shows the wires after swapping. No matter, you just need to reverse them in your motor.

Then you need to move the parking actuator from left park to right park.

Depends on whether it is a DL3 or DL3a wiper motor as the S1.5 could have either (usually DL3a on US spec cars). Find out which motor you have first.

I too have this last, nice to do sometime, conversion job on my to do list, that is to convert the wiper parking to right. My 1968 ex USA series 1.5 car has been gradually morphed into rhd uk spec and has the DL3a wiper motor. My understanding from reading the articles on the lhd to rhd conversion is that i need to buy 3 new right hand wiper arms or bend my existing ones and then adjust the back plate on the motor. No wiring mods to reverse the motor are needed, is this the case?

This is exactly what I did on my series 1.5 , 1968 car.
As you say adjust the fibre plate on the motor. A five minute job unless like me you decide to clean the motor up and replace the brushes etc.
Essentially a simple task without wiring mods.
Series 1 FHC purchased 40 years ago. Courted my wife in it.
Series 1 2+2 when the kids were small now sold.
Series 1.5 OTS in opalescent maroon, Californian car. My retirement present.

DL3A motor:

This motor has three wires, the earlier DL3 motor has five wires as has the later 15W round motor. The DL3A motor was only fitted to LHD 1968 cars. It is a brilliant design and Jaguar should have used it throughout S1 production.

Loosen the locking screw and rotate the brass actuator. See the picture above.
