Hi gents,
I’m about to undertake the disassembly of my upper and lower wishbones and stub axle carrier for re-bushing, re-plating etc. Would it be prudent to permanently mark, with a centre punch or the like, the components from one side so as not to get things mixed up for reassembly.
I’m not sure how much is “handed”.
Cheers,
Pete

No harm in it. A single pin punch on all the left sided stuff is my norm.

Exactly as I had thought. Even when things aren’t handed I reckon they always fit better from where they came. Thanks Andrew.

Curious about this as I am about to embark in a similar project with my ‘67 XKE. I will re-bushing my front suspensions as well as new tie rod ends. Two questions I would like an expert opinion on:
1. I don’t have a car lift, only jack stands. Crazy to even attempt the project?
2. Is there any way I can avoid re-adjusting the torsion bars after the work is done?

I used just a hydraulic trolley jack & axle stands, no need for a hoist.
If you make corresponding marks (centre punch) on the torsion bars, at both ends, the lower wishbones and rear adjusters you will be able to refit them, lining up the marks, without changing your ride height.

One tip I would give is to photograph the entire set of parts together, including washers etc. , before you send them to a plater, and give the plater a copy of the photo - and do the same on collection - that way there can be no argument about what was delivered, or for that matter what is returned
