Cockpit air pressure
#1 Cockpit air pressure
During lockdown I have just been doing some work on my interior fan of my 3.8 OTS and the air seals in the heater box. I get a good pressure through the dashtop air vents when the car doors are open. However, when the doors are closed, the pressure through the vents quickly drops off. Having had the car fully re-trimmed last Autumn, I am wondering whether the sealing around the car has improved to such a degree that the cabin pressure builds to the point where it is virtually equalising what the fan is trying to force through and therefore reducing the volume of air able to come through the vents. When I had my SII XJ6 there were outlet vents under the rear parcel shelf to allow a flow-through of air through the cabin. Is there supposed to be something similar hidden somewhere on the S1 E-Type (possibly around the bulkhead) which my re-trim might have sealed?

There are two questions I never expect to read on any E-type forum:
1) “Why is my E-type so ugly?”
and
2) “How do I avoid my OTS cockpit being 100% airtight?”
I envy you!
