#1 Front bumper Motif Bar Extension Assembly distance piece

Post by ysmalkie » Tue Oct 27, 2020 9:26 pm

Hi,

The front bumper motif bar is mounted on 2 extension assemblies which have a mysterious BD19119 Distance Piece for mounting to the overrider.

Does anyone have a photo how they look like?..

Can't find anything with that part number, and looking at diagrams and from memory I can't picture what they're talking about.

It might be that the original 3.8 BD19113 got modified at some point to incorporate it.

Unless what they're talking about is C24792 the rubberized double ended 1/4" bolts, the same as the fuel pump mount in the 4.2.These things are useless as they break off and your motif bar drops off. I use a 1/4" UNF setscrew about 1 1/4" long and two 3/8" lengths of fuel pipe, one on each side of the motif bar.

Anyone else?
Andrew.

I've fitted a few bumpers in my time and can't visualise a distance piece....

Maybe try fitting the bumper with what you have. If it fits, problem solved.

From time to time, on rebuilds, it transpires that the bonnet mouth and bumper fixing point dimensions are such that the space for the motif bar is either too wide or too far to get the motif bar to fit. I have on one occasion had to make up small plates with offset threaded rods on either side to compensate for this. It's possible that what they are referring to is something to deal with this problem.

Tadek,
Mine is currently apart, about to be cleaned up.
I hope I’ve understood your question.
Here’s some photos - hope it helps

Many thanks Glenn,

From engineering point of view, I think there should be spacers here, as red marked, but I have no idea if Jaguar thought so too..
