Lacking what at the top end?! Unless you’re able to cruise at 100 mph, then what is lacking?
At 60-70 mph you’re nicely in the power and torque band and able to easily accelerate in 4th gear or drop down to 3rd for even more power/torque. And changing down to third makes a lovely sound as the engine really starts to sing
(though, maybe sing isn’t the correct word?
)

It's an interesting offering which I inquired about last summer.
It's a Getrag and it's rated @ 560Nm or 413 ft lbs
Here are the quoted ratios;
1.) 4.002
2.) 2.108
3.) 1.380
4.) 1.00
5.) 0.780
6.) 0.645

Hmmmm thats what Im talking about.
Its a shame the 5 speeds are all taboo right now with issues, but my old world t5 from 15 years ago is the best in my red convert.
I called and left a message.

Very badly chosen ratios which will spoil the driving experience , particularly when compared with either the Moss or the EJ ( close ratio ) all synchro box . Both 1st and 2nd are too low

So basically a six speed with four usable gears?
My T5 is still superb.

I think the feeling is that the torquey XK engine really doesn't need a 6 speed box. 5 is plenty, and there are quite a few 5 speed options out there. Personally, I find the 4 speeds ok. Still get 23mpg overall, not too noisy on motorway cruising at 80mph.
