67 S1 4.2
Hi,
1st front caliper apart.
Bore looks nice and clean. Maybe resleeved.
Seals are in very good condition and tempted to reuse them
I wanted to to have all four zinc plated along with the stub axles.
How do I strip out the pins in the centre of the caliper body and is plating ok if they have been sleeved?
Advice welcome.
Thanks
Eddie

Never ever re use old rubber parts in old breaking systems unless there is some serious reason why you can't replace them
They are cheap and easy to replace

Don't think the bores themselves should be plated. Not sure the pin can be removed. I stripped mine and rebuilt....always use new seals....but I sprayed mine with silver caliper paint.....then decided to upgrade to Cooper craft calipers so mine are wrapped up on a shelf in the garage

They look nice.
As above if mine I would bead blast them and paint the exterior surfaces with caliper paint.
The pins are not removable. I would replace the rubbers.

Must be a way!
Seems a waste to plate all the parts on the suspension and then use caliper paint on the the part most easily seen outside the car through the wheels.
Anyone tried brush on zinc plating?
How do the firms do it when they rebuild and re sleeve them?
guess I had better ask them

You can plate them, and we have, but the quality of the zinc finish does deteriorate over time.
Plating them shouldn't do any harm to the cylinder surface although it can make the locating pins jam sometimes.
Painted with nice silver caliper paint, and painting the frames as well, looks good and you can touch it up whenever you want.
The EBay calipers look to have been gold passivated, which is a form of zinc plating. Bright zinc looks much nicer.
