Does anyone reproduce the water deflectors that are riveted to the door shell behind the door card to prevent water from splashing outward?

I think Vipergts means these:

These are homemade; I don't think they are available to buy??

I’ve edited the picture, but postimage is not showing it for some reason, maybe postimage has a problem at the moment?

I have them also on my car.
Not in alloy but in steel, painted black, riveted:

Yeah they’re the ones.

Resigned myself to making some which I did today.

Will seal them on and the membrane with dumdum

I’m determined to stop water ingress

Don’t forget the nylon receivers in the bottom row of door card clips. Also, the lower clips are different to the others (made from wire)

Interesting Angus, I wasn't aware of the nylon receivers I just have the ordinary steel ones, through the drilled holes.

Were they fitted to the Series Ones?

I will have to look into that.

Thanks,

Yes interesting.
I was surprised to see these: have they a specific function (maybe against corrosion)?

I think they were to try to prevent water that might collect in the bottom of the doors, getting past. It can come out onto the inner sill and also damage the door cards. Always make sure the drain channels are clear. It's easy to block these if you have waxoyled inside the doors.

The parts manual for the Series One doesn't mention them, nor do they appear on the SNG site for the Series One.

They are however listed for the Series Two.

I would have concluded that they were a later addition if it wasn’t for Surge's 3.8.

I would agree with Simon that they are there to prevent water getting past.

Well would you believe it.

I have just had a look at some old photos and they were original on my car too.

Angus, I do have the nylon receivers/plugs in the doors though a bit mashed. (Incidentally I found them for 36p at Robeys, cheapest yet).
They’re definitely to stop water ingress.

BUT, what’s different about the lower clips, aren’t they all wire?

Hi Lee, only the clips for the nylon plugs are wire. I think they grip better inside the plug.

The SNG ones appear to be a slightly different design in that the outside face is circular and not tabs like the originals. Probably makes no difference to is function, but it is nice to have parts that look like the original.
They are also 90p each.
I have ordered some from Martin Robey, where they are 43p inc. and look like the originals.
I will report back when I receive them.
