850052 - 450.000 GBP - really?

Have I missed something? Did early E-Type value rocket?
- wrong colour
- repro horn push
- later and wrong brake fluid bottle caps
- and there might be much more, if these details are wrong...

I can’t imagine anyone paying that much!
Door armrests/handles??
Shouldn’t the steering wheel be an early type??

No, values haven’t rocketed.
As with most things, you can put whatever ‘value’ you want on something. Whether you achieve that price is another matter.
Chassis 64 sold for £320k (incl fees) at auction three years ago, so obl’s seem to command a premium. Chassis 289, also a obl only sold for £89k last year and was in nice condition albeit a lhd.
If the seller is that confident of its value, stick it in an auction with no reserve and let the market decide!

As I have mentioned before
How much of that "Fully original" car, is fully original is up for speculation
Probably find less than 20 percent is original
And maybe even the whole car is a frankinstien
Very hard to tell sometimes unless you can document its full history and what's been replaced
A chassis number and a registration plate dont make a car fully original
Hate those words and they are misleading
Fully restored or a representation or rebuilt to factory spec with "x" amount percentage of the original car still present would be better
But that don't sell cars to gullible rich people

Hi Robbiee, this is absolutely correct.
In addition:
- wrong dash top
- wrong cylinder head colour
- also wrong (and cheap repro) clutch fluid bottle cap
- would be interesting to see what else is wrong...

From my pov: more or less all cars needed or need restoration and with it comes welding in new panels, a new paint, new leather, etc.
And sometimes parts, screws, clamps have been replaced in past of such a car.
What I like is to see is that the owner takes the effort to try to source all the original parts and where not available strives for the best replacement option. This starts to try to get the right, period correct panels (e.g. from Monocoque Metalworks instead of the usual suppliers), etc.
This is what makes a car valuable in my eyes - apart from original VIN plate and body no tag.

Fools and their money are easily parted.....it's when he (or she) asks for agreed valuation that the wheels fall off the wagon....they will be extremely lucky to get a valuation much above £300k....probably nearer.£200k....hagerty gives condition 1 OBL roadsters as £355k...as they say '#1 vehicles are the best in the world'...and this one ain't as detailed above...definitely wrong wheel, after market boss and the fluid reservoirs seem to be in the wrong order....clutch one is on the inside not the outside! A nice but not very accurate restoration from the images but not A £450k car....A dealer taking a punt methinks....bet he is open to offers...

Key question; how is the rest?
- dynamo
- regulator
- cooling fan motor
- ignition coil
- trunk lid hinges
- rear axle: hub carriers, non adjustable hand brake
- seat & seat runners
- screws & clamps
- shocks
- matching (not restamped)
- original VIN plate and body no tag
- gauges, in particular switches, tachometer, dash legend
- pedal box
- windscreen chrome surrounds, a-post caps, rear hood chrome
- Butlers or unstamped license light bezels
- original chrome OBL escutcheons
And many more small details...
If that is all there, I'd say 250k as the original colour combination is nice indeed. With another 50k to invest.
But would you believe that the rest is as delivered if you find so easy catches like steering wheel, horn push, reservoir caps? With 2-3k this would be solved....

Shouldn’t the “caps” on the windscreen top posts have a rubber insert on the early models?
Also …those wide tyres ….why ???
