BTW, is it know what date or VIN they stopped painting headlight buckets silver regardless of colour?

Black is a beautiful color on the E. I think it really almost compacts the car and gives it a look other colors don’t.
And its an otig rare color for the car. And it had red interior! Do it.

Black is more difficult to paint because it shows all the flaws in the prep.
Check out the quality of painter’s work under fluorescent lights on other cars he’s painted to see his prep quality.
Dark colors are the best to check in order to see his quality of workmanship.
Sanding marks will jump out, as well as irregular surface prep and paint imperfections with fluorescents above. Get a nice angle on your view.

Progress. I've decided on Opalescent Dark Blue. And my painter stopped by this weekend and approved my work as "ready for paint" ;-). So in a few weeks he will start...

When new, did it have the colour everywhere? Outside, inside bonnet, rear wheel wells, bottom, all of the inside cabin (also the invisible part when it's assembled). Maybe it's easier to say what should not be the colour, anything?

All surfaces are painted in body colour.

Excellent choice of colour, but then I'm biased.

WIP, right now it's a lot of colours :-) It will be clean metal later in the process, the painter wanted to send me a picture of "worst state"...

Finally, my project has the Opalescent Dark Blue, love that color now :-)
Thanks to this forum for the help in choosing, and the PPG code found was what the painter used...
