#1 3.8 In Tank Fuel Pump

Post by rblumsom » Mon Jun 05, 2023 3:43 pm

My apologies if this has been asked before.
I am going to recommission a 3.8 that has been idle for 14 years.
If it were my 4.2, with the external fuel pump, then I'd have a spare set of pump points (or at least some emery paper) to hand.
The question is do the in tank 3.8 fuel pumps have the same sticky points issue as the 4.2s and if so are the pumps serviceable ? Looking at SNG it would appear not.
Thank you,
Richard.

Hi Richard, the in tank pump has no points, has an impeller driven by a small electric motor.Replacement pumps are available from SNG Barratt.

Thank you for the response Gary. I suspect that they might be more reliable than the external type (I’ve replaced mine with the electronic SU version so no more problems !)

I replaced my original in tank pump with an electronic in tank pump from SNGB about 12 years ago, it has been faultless so I recommend it.
