For my four pennyworth !
I have had my 1967 4.2 FHC for over 20 years now and one thing I decided was that I would always retain the gear knob which came with the car as the thought that anyone who had driven the car would have made contact with the car through that key part appealed to me. It is one of the final 60 Series 1 FHC cars built according to the chassis number.
Although the gear knob is well used with no white paint evident and it has a crack in the black plastic, I still keep it on the car as I believed it to be the original one from 1967 and had no reason to doubt it.
Although all the parameters above are met, it is heavy at 230 grams, has a non-magnetic insert and is 1.662 inches in diameter, the number “3” is not flat topped. So effectively it is the same as Maikel’s one on the left in his post #48 above with the specifications of it in his post #50.

The mystery deepens ?
