#1 Mangoletsi throttle pedal assembly

I recently bought a dark green 1965 fixed head that's on the road as always wanted one. It's been with the previous owner for 34 years and been reasonably well looked after but still needs lots of little jobs sorted on it.
The throttle linkage however is really quite tired and all the ball ends are worn as they've not been lubricated in a long time from what I can see. The car was bought to be used rather than hidden in the garage most of the year so was thinking of fitting one of the Mangoletsi cable kits. Looking for any feedback on them by owners who have fitted them. I find the pedal with the original quite heavy as well.

Probably the best upgrade you can make to an E-Type! more info here: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3512

Silk smooth operation and twice the pedal travel so easier to modulate the throttle and you will see an improvement in mpg as a result.

Many thanks David, I'll get one ordered up. I am also 6 foot 3 as well so will be able to lower the pedal a bit as it's a bit of a squeeze.

I installed the Mangoletsi on my 62 FHC. Huge improvement. I'm 6'2" and needed more legroom. I measured my TR6 pedal positions (which were also identical to my 73 BMW CSi pedals) and lit the torch. Great upgrade.

I received my Mongoletsi throttle pedal assembly yesterday, looks a nice bit of kit so will be getting it fitted in the enxt while along with a cooling system overhaul and lots of other small jobs.

The Mangoletsi kit is worth every darn penny!!

What’s the benefit …is it particularly good for LHD cars due to the longer linkage ??

Spoke with SNG, John has retired so they have stoped productions of them unfortunately so no longer available.

SC parts have one in stock for £1500 if someone is completely desparate.

I have usen the Mangoletsi assembley, it is great but it is expensive. Being about unobtainable does not help either.

More recently I have used this £90 Sytec duel cable assembly, for rally cars. That is well built too.

You could mount the cable end on a bracket bolted into the two captives in the picture on the bulkhead, above the pedal.

I know it is only part of the solution.

I have used the original pedal and modified the arm to accept the cables.

Then it was a matter of figuring out the other end.

For me it was easy because the Heritage throttle bodies share Weber dimensions.

I am sure I could figure something out for SUs. A nice low rise pivot is in the kit, so It should jut be a matter of adding an arm and ball joint to the lower carb rod.

I'll maybe look into making something as there is definitely a market for it and my mate has a CNC company with a nice new machine. Also has access to laser cutting as well.

For a simple kit that makes use of the existing pedal:
A bracket to take a double cable from the pedal lever
A dual cable attachment to that lever that will go onto the ball without damaging said ball so that the original rod system can be re-instated
A bracket at the airbox or thereabouts to feed cables to the throttle rod
Dual cables, maybe from existing motorbikes
A round clamp that goes around the throttle lever to accept the cables
Noting the differences between early 3.8 engines, the S1 and S2 4.2s

It'll be interesting to see if you can come up with a simple kit at a decent price. Yes, it won't have the finesse or pedal arrangement of the Mangoletsi, but if that is now out of production then there could be a reasonable market for it.

A double cable is best as it gives an even pull, a single cable will always want to twist and you also have redundancy as well with 2 cables over 1 if 1 decides to break. Also the cost for 2 is not much more compared to 2.

Help please.
I have bought a kit for my S2 LHD. Long story but I only have the instructions for a RHD conversion. Does anybody have a set of instructions for a LHD? Do you know whether I have to remove the steering wheel to remove the steering column from the original throttle body?

The shaft just passes through the throttle housing. Not sure you actually need to remove the wheel.

Angus has done the LHD conversion (I did the first RHD one) and being the perfectionist he is he ran the cables along the bulkhead to avoid cluttering the engine view (click to enlarge):

Many thanks both. I’ve read your thread several times David, indeed it was your comments as to how good this is that persuaded me to take the plunge! I like Angus’ idea of routing the cables. For obvious reasons, I’m very keen to get LHD instructions before I start. Hopefully someone will have a copy…

Moss Jaguar have their open day on 22 June and Angus's LHD FHC with the Mangoletsi throttle will be on display. Plenty of chance to ask questions and take photos.
