David, I might have a go at those aswell some time - I have the right sheet metal bits for it and started making a mold when I did the tips.

kind regards

I got mine today and they are perfect, when I get the chance I take some photos.
I can now wire up my XK's led DRL's.

That would be excellent Marek. As you supply the lenses in two parts it is simple to remove the two screws holding the side lens and put the blanking plate in place. Impossible if the lenses were glued together because the lip on the plate is held in place by the lens.

I should add that Marek also produces front and rear lenses for the S2/3 cars. The rear lenses can be in various colour combinations and can optionally include built in LED reversing light panels. This makes tidying up the rear of these cars a lot more cost effective than buying the Lotus Elan S4 clusters.

Hi Marek,

Any idea when you may start a second run of the 3.8 lens's? I could do with a pair.

Thanks.

I've discovered that my driver's side lens assembly has been glued together after it appears to have cracked at some time in the past.
I ordered a new lens assembly form David Manners and it duly arrived glued together. I'm beginning to think this is a common practice. Can anyone shed some light on this.

Marek if you read this I've sent you a pm.

Cheers

Alan

Being glued together is the norm. You'll find that the glue from the 1960s is far more formidable than the modern stuff and you may have some joy with a solvent like cellulose thinners so long as there are no cracks in the original lenses.

Don't try to pry originals apart once they are half unglued - you'll break them. If applying solvent works, keep doing it until they are free.

Youy shold also note my comments on the David Manners lenses - they'd stand out a mile on a concours car.

I am currently making a second batch as the first lot has sold out.

kind regards
Marek

The lenses made it to the central US in fine shape due to the fine job of packing in bubble wrap! Took them out to compare to the NOS Lucas 4.2 lens. Fantastic reproduction with all aspects a perfect match to the Lucas one. Lettering spot on, fluting and small dot surface exact! Well done. Thanks for doing this.

Kind regards,

Geoff

With the cost of the lenses and the correct screws, the lights on my E-Type will have to be insured separately :D

Dear Dave,

You are correct that they would indeed be easy to steal, but bear in mind that I have a list of everyone who has a set and if you aren't on the list, you'll go directly to jail without passing "GO", as to me, each set is like a fingerprint.

kind regards
Marek

Apologies for the split infinitive.

There are some original Lucas S1 lenses (post March 1965 cars) available from an eBay seller at £72 pair + £5 postage: http://tinyurl.com/q24xcg5 The ones supplied by the usuals at £28/pair are not accurate copies. So Marek's lenses at £75/pair are a real bargain!

David,

I'm not complaining I would rather spend the money on the correct item anyday.

Use Loctite 270 on the screws, that'll stop the thieves (and everyone else)...

And use good quality bulbs 'cos you'll never be able to change them again :D

Hello Marek. I am restoring a 3.8 FHC made 2 Feb 1962. Are the early style front fluted lenses still available?
