As a relative outsider to this argument , I thought I'd go trudging through XKEData on the RHD FHCs. I probably went through the first 300 cars or so, and I can't seem to find any with the wider back FHC seats. That is in agreement with what is written on the Factory Fit thread it would seem. Skipped forward to 860578 and we're still on roadster seats.

Found 860730 with FHC seats - July 1962 build:

860671 - build date 19th June 62 has OTS seats.

860752 (The ex 'Lofty' car)

860874 with FHC seats, which was a September 1962 build.

Information present seems to be in agreement with the Factory Fit thread and David's theory. Always expect theories and/or ideas to be challenged on this forum (ask me about Marston radiators!) but by and large I have found it to be a harmonious place, even in the heat of discussion.

its a friendly place, and one where we all genuinely share our information without trying to have one upmanship. Not sure of the point in that!

I think the point here is anomalies pop up - such as my car.

FHC - 860868 without the cutaway behind the seat and the early seats. It has a really low by number stamped onto the rear number plate panel (about 130 ish). Registered November '62. I suspect the car sat around somewhere for some time prior to being assembled. No modifications apart from some over sills were done to the shell before I started to work on it. It also had the 'convered' OTS doors, flat floor. Original bonnet wasn't with the car so no idea about louvres / locks.

To be clear, I'm saying mine is out of sync with the records, but it does indicate anomalies did occur.

Shaun.
