#1 Rear wishbone cover/cap?

Post by Richardhealey » Sun Dec 03, 2017 3:20 pm

Hello everyone,
Just dismantling and cleaning my rear wishbones and come across something rather interesting.
The OS wishbone was filled with a lot of grease at the inner fulcrum shaft end and inside was this metallic object which needed prising off - pictures below.
I wondered if it was some kind of cap or something similar that had come away and rusted itself to the inside of the wishbone.
I haven’t come across such a cover in any of the parts books and indeed maybe it has nothing to do with the car at all and somehow ended up here...

Thoughts welcome!

Many thanks,
Rich

You would be amazed at how much sand got left inside the blocks sometimes.

Two forgings linked by a tube and a bit of ARB/shock mount bracketry.
