I am having trouble adjusting the closing of the back hatch on my 1970 FHC. I suffer from a loud rattle at the boot, and every minuet adjustment of the "catch" yields no improvement. If I tighten the pin assembly on the door, the door won't latch. With even the smallest of adjustment, the door will latch, but the rattle is back. I have just replaced the weatherstripping with new, and no change. I have driven around the block with a piece of foam propping the door slightly open, and the noise vanishes, so I know the rattle is related to the door/latch mechanism.
Any suggestions? Are there "secondary" areas to adjust that might help?

Series II Boot rattle
#2 Re: Series II Boot rattle
At the risk of being had for cruelty....borrow a small child from a neighbour. Pop them in the boot and drive gently around the block and get them to listen...bet you'd have no shortage of volunteers
Seriously.. check he door is not is not misaligned and actually impacting the bodywork rather than the door rubber...might be the stay arm...maybe a bit of trim loose...could be almost anything..
