#1 Asking price record?

Post by andyf » Wed Apr 25, 2018 7:44 am

Is this the highest asking price for a 2 plus 2? It appears someone is trying to recoupe their cost of rebuilding rather than reflecting the true market value of the car. I would have thought 75 to 80 was absolutely the top end. But as they say, a car is worth as much as you pay for it!

Crazy I'd say. Reckon my 2+2 is pretty damn good, and I reckon a top-end price for it would be £50k

I agree. I paid 55 2 years ago with Dealer. The car is not perfect but like yours, pretty good! The etype magazine has done a feature on values, the 2 plus 2 averages around 35 to 40 over the last few years. I have never seen one advertised before this one for more than 65 to 70.

Now that I have one of my own, the higher the better. Ramp em up I say. Not that I intend selling it anytime soon.

Asking price....doubt it will sell for that...all things are really just worth what someone is prepared to pay for them....seems you could have bought Homebase for a quid...sad.

E Type magazine guidelines are base on action prices. Totally different. Actually, E Type prices depend on many things, not least what someone is prepared to spend. 2+2 appear to be worth less than Coupes which are worth less than Roadsters. Series 1 fetches more than Series 2 which fetches more than Series 3. Above all is condition. I have seen E Types for £30K recently, but I have seen some more than £500K for an Eagle or a Jaguar Factory rebuild. Question is: Has the bubble burst? I'm told not, but prices are rising only very slowly.
